In today’s busy world it often feels like there is not enough time to accomplish everything we want to. We may find ourselves wishing there were more hours in the day or pleading for just one more day in the week. What if there were a way to create the time we need in our lives to do it all? You can learn how to use mindfulness techniques to change the speed and nature of your thoughts so that you simply get more done in less time. By changing the nature of your relationship with time, you will become more efficient, more creative and more productive.

It is amazing how creative we can be about not getting on with the task at hand. If you ever find yourself doing something other than what you should be working on, almost certainly there is an underlying fear manifesting. Additionally, our minds tend to run a commentary on what is going on around us – sometimes referred to as ‘inner dialogue or chatter’.

Combining tasks and priorities whenever it is possible (versus multitasking) is a wonderful way to get more accomplished in a short time! Sometimes simply looking at a “to do” list of important “I must do today” tasks in an unhurried, thoughtful and self-brainstorming way, creates doable combinations. I’ve consistently been a fan of you can “have your cake and eat it too” philosophy when that makes sense and doesn’t create conflict.

It is my hope that you, dear reader, create happy, productive lives for yourselves, abundant in all that sustains you! I encourage you to pursue your passions and dreams, complete your goals and be grateful for it all, as it is not possible to feel sad or overwhelmed in the same moments that you feel grateful!

Wheel of Life (2)Personal balance is different for everyone. It has to do with where you are starting and where you want to be…It depends on what your responsibilities (or perceived ones) are and the time and energy you need to allow for that and for simple and more complex pleasures.  It’s not about having equal pieces of the “wheel of life” in the chart above; it’s about giving each piece the time and energy it needs. Most of us have evaluated our success and not meeting goals for the past year and have goals and action plans in mind for this year.  It’s important to take action now.  Are you ready? Now is the time!

Time can serve as a powerful ally as novel experiences and activities are introduced into everyday existence. Time works for us when we devise our daily and weekly schedules with great care, because our choice to use the time available to us in one way or another empowers us to create a truly individualized existence.  The flexibility with which you navigate your schedule helps you accomplish everything on your to-do list easily. 

You can feel calm in the midst of chaos when you are conscious of your personal needs and prepared to incorporate them into your schedule.  A busy schedule can become a source of stress while struggling to meet intense timelines.  Suggestion:  Make time to pursue activities directly related to your personal wellness by creating interludes between bouts of intense activity and calming or stress releasing  pursuits such as meditation, reading or exercise.

A solopreneur has much more flexibility available.  For instance, I usually take a break mid morning to work out or go for a walk outside.  The time spent “in the zone” opens up creativity and often this is when I get my “aha’s” and new ideas that are exciting!  Those on company time have a bigger challenge of creating time as an ally- and doable! How do you create calm in the midst of chaos and time as an ally?

Take one thing at a time;  multitasking usually backfires.

When you are time challenged it causes stress and wastes time.

It’s  easy to wrap your mind around change mindset for shift; at least that’s what I think.

Maybe it’s time to cross things off that list tackling one at a time,  and stop multi- tasking.  I am aware (via scientific research) that even though some of us love to do that it usually backfires.

And stop procrastinating one step at a time.. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, Tapping) can help with that; it has an amazing success rate for Transforming Procrastination,  since that is all fear-based.   A few video skype sessions! or face to face with me in NY Metro area is all you need to overcome your challenge!

Ya know, some things on the list can be tossed if time is an issue.

This season Less Stress for the Holidays , Managing Time & Focus to Attain Your Goals  have been well received  topics in my workshop venues. I’ve come to the personal-professional conclusion that what all participants relate to for an easier season is keeping things simple.

I’m an advocate of this philosophy year round- and I think we all go through phases and times where the “complicated version” is attractive.  Extra seasonal demands point to staying with the basics and what matters most. “Being stressed” is about feeling overwhelmed and out of control- and sometimes circumstances are beyond our control.  We always have a choice, however, about how we cope with these circumstances. 

I want to thank each of you in our Long Island Networking community for the wonderful venues and events provided this year and look forward to additional opportunities to build a strong network of caring business owners and colleagues, as well as  international friends and colleagues via social media and the internet groups I belong to.

About Eileen:
I’ve overcome obstacles in areas of my life… After battling colitis for many years, I found a holistic approach to healing myself that worked wonderfully together with my medical care. My participation in modalities incorporating positive thinking, affirmations, relaxation breathing, exercise and stretching were instrumental to my conquering colitis and became part of my Moving Meditation® Fitness audio program.

16 years ago, I was involved in a pedestrian accident in which my right foot was run over by a van, which left me with five breaks in a bone in my foot. During my recovery I was asked by a local physician to help write a curriculum for a new stress-reduction program he was developing. He encouraged me to read John Kabot-Zinn’s Full Catastrophe Living” and Herbert Benson’s “The Relaxation Response”, which turned my negative attitude towards recovery around and were catalysts to my healing and I was able to teach Hatha yoga for this course within a few months.

I was dealing with a severely broken foot, which had huge amounts of tissue damage. During this time of healing, with my prognosis unknown,I decided to become a trained bio-feedback therapist as well as work in that field in order to have career “back-up” because of my unknown prognosis.

The mind-body connection, the autogenic and relaxation training plus counseling techniques contributed significantly to my own healing; a powerful reinforcement of the power of the mind-body connection. I was also greatly impacted during this time by professional training at the Omega Institute with Dr. Kabat-Zinn, who founded the Center for Mindfulness Based Stress-Reduction Programs at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. The training was pivotal in integrating all the work I was doing and clarified my goal to be trained as a professional coach. I then went on to the Corporate Coach University, a branch of Coach U and recognized by the International Coach Federation.

Since then I have been and continue to be inspired by the impact people can have on their lives when they choose to manage and reduce stress. I am honored to be a part of that process in anyway that I can.
