I agree with The Golden Globes that “The King’s Speech” is amazing, and extremely relevant today in the non-vocal, texting world we live in.  The film is alive with EFT affirmations and strategies to work with any fear of public speaking- which is the number one fear in the world today – more than fear of flying, terrorism or the state of the economy.  My  success with professionals in helping to boost their confidence and public persona with EFT Coaching uses the same principles applied in the film- with an advantage of greater acceleration in the time frame using EFT.    Find out more

EFT ( The Emotional Freedom Technique, meridian tapping), together with relaxation techniques and visualization greatly accelerates the process of getting to core issues that highly impact the problem or fear presented.
True to the film, anger of being suppressed or judged early on, when released and cleared, can empower the subject so that he can naturally and passionately express what is important and timely.

Hunter Mountain 2The hardest thing about making a decision is that it means examining everything life puts in front of us, making a choice and following through with action.  It is only through acknowledging the existence of what’s not working for us by turning inward, that we can begin the process of making a decision and following through with action. So saying yes doesn’t mean indiscriminately accepting things that don’t work for us. It means conversing with ourselves, accessing our inner power and then starting the conversation with a very powerful word — yes.

When we say yes to a choice, we enter into a state of trust that whatever our situation is, that we can work with it. We express confidence in ourselves and a willingness to learn from whatever comes our way.   The question we might ask ourselves is what it will take for us to get to the point of saying yes. For some of us, it takes coming up against something we can’t ignore, escape, deny or feel uncomfortable with.  For others, it just seems a natural progression of events that leads us to making a decision. It’s important to examine the moments when we resist what is happening. It might be scary at first, and even painful at times, but if we persevere and continue the process  we will discover the joy of being in a positive conversation with a force much bigger than ourselves. Reframing, meditation, EFT (The Emotional Freedom Technique, meridian tapping) and working with an expert coach in these modalities can be very helpful and help you become unstuck and unblocked in decision making.  The coach also becomes someone to be accountable to with decisions you have made and goals that you have created.

Developing a lasting attitude of happiness is most often a matter of accepting much of the world for what it is.  Since the conditions that meet our expectations will not always be present in our lives, our lives can be more satisfying when we make the most frustrating circumstances that are placed onto our paths. I hope you took note of the word “much” in my first sentence- as I am a strong advocate of establishing personal, professional and political boundaries and being able to say “no” even when that can lead to an outcome that may not be immediately positive or provide satisfaction.

Developing a lasting attitude of happiness may include looking for the positive points in a seemingly negative situation or endeavoring to have fun when there seems to be no reason to be jovial. In treating the unexpected in this fashion, we discover that true joy is seldom dependent on outside forces. Rather, it comes from within us, fueled by our commitment to looking on the bright side of life.   Search for the silver lining hidden in a frustrating situation and see what happens!

Children have a large dose of natural resiliency. When a child falls down, he usually picks himself up (perhaps after crying and being consoled), brushes himself off and moves on. As adults, the falling down may not be physical and the moving on not as easy.

Here are 12 tips towards resiliency to help you reach your goals. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are in charge and mostly responsible for our own success and happiness.

• Resilience/optimism is not about sugar coating the truth. Lying gets you into trouble- even with yourself.

• Think of possibilities from different perspectives.

• Stop talking in absolutes. Eliminate the words nothing and never from self talk.

• Set specific goals that are attainable.

• When you are feeling down due to personal circumstances, take stock of your strengths.

• Lower the stakes, not the standards: Don’t have your whole life riding on the outcome of one event.

• Savor small triumphs, steps leading to the bigger picture.

• Set aside self blame and learn from your mistakes.

• Surround yourself with positive people.

• Do not read, watch or listen to the news if you become “too upset”.

• Take a few minutes each day to reflect on your feelings.

• Cultivate generosity and gratitude.
