A gentleman I know from business networking said very definitively (he’s an attorney), “I think you are a late bloomer- you are  really good at what you do and so passionate about your work.”  I smiled.  I said, “You know me now and yes I’m  a “late bloomer-boomer”  in my current work as  coach-educator in stress/anger management and related topics, and I no longer am actively doing what I was as passionate about before we met- that is “Moving Meditation Fitness(R)” and wellness coaching, including stress reduction.  I invited my attorney friend (who is extremely successful and stressed) to download my recording of rhythmic movement and guided relaxation on my website:

Track #2: Rythmic Movement
Track #7: Guided Relaxation

“Reduce Holiday Stress” is a favorite topic this time of year in my workshop venues. I’ve come to the personal-professional conclusion that what all participants relate to for an easier season is keeping things simple.
I’m an advocate of this philosophy year round- and I think we all go through phases and times where the “complicated version” is attractive and we go after that; with focus, clarity and an abundance of energy that can be a good thing. This time of year however, with an excessive number of “time robbers” around – traffic- family demands-shopping- it makes sense to stay with the basics and what matters most. “Being stressed” is about feeling overwhelmed and out of control- and sometimes circumstances are beyond our control.

I want to thank each of you in our Long Island Networking community for the wonderful venues and events provided this year and look forward to additional opportunities to build a strong network of caring business owners and colleagues.

I am offering a workshop series in Baldwin to kick-off 2010, details below, as well as a “SOAR™” Teleclass Mastermind Series on the telephone which you will be hearing more about. I’ve just completed a teleclass series that was wonderful- and am excited about this next one.

I ‘ve gone nine days unconnected – that may be my record in this phase of life. Traveling is leaving “life as you know it” behind to explore different cultures and landscapes and to refresh and renew yourself. Traveling with my husband Steve, we had wonderful five days in Mallorca with our daughters, who live in Madrid and London. The word idyllic kept popping up in conversation re this locale~ Later in our itinerary Steve and I revisited Marakesh, Morocco after a 37 year time span from our last visit when we spent over a month there in the winter of a year of travels. We found some positive changes which I’ll write about in a stand alone blog soon.

As a seasoned traveler to foreign lands, I’d like to share –

10 Tips for Smooth Travels and Fun:

Anticipate having a wonderful time
If something goes wrong or not according to plan, try to see the humor in it and move on.
Once you’re settled in and go exploring, allow yourself to “get lost”.
ie: don’t have your nose glued to a map.
Know key phrases in the language.
Take some downtime everyday or a siesta to relax and recharge.
Stay unconnected to the internet, phone, TV, newspaper for as much
and as long as possible.
Bring home meaningful mementos-souvenirs-photos.
Compromise as much as possible with your travel mate(s) – After all,
you came to have a good time and probably have tickets home together –

Preparing to get away on vacation — Newsday.com
There’s rarely ever a good time to take a vacation when you’re a small-business owner. That’s why many owners just don’t get away, or if they do, they end up taking long weekends or taking some free time.

Power Quote and Blog Thought
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.

In the scurry of personal resilience and recovery, let’s not forget “forgiveness”. In order to forgive, “letting go” is necessary. To let go, one must thoroughly examine the past and then reside in the present –
