Perhaps you experience unease regarding the speed of your progress, which could be a sign that you need to cultivate awareness within yourself and learn to move with the flow rather than against it.  Nothing is placed in your path that you are incapable of handling, so you can rest assured that you are ready to grow into your new situation.

 

Often people to feel that life is progressing too slowly or too quickly. We draft carefully composed plans only to find that they fall into place when we least expect.When delays in our progress create disappointment or the pace of life seems overwhelming, peace can be found in the simple belief that we are exactly where we need to be at this moment.

Every person fulfills their purpose when the time is right. If you have fast-tracked to success, you may become deeply frustrated if you discover you can no longer satisfy your desires as quickly as you might like. Yet the delays that disappoint you may be laying the foundation for future accomplishments that you have not yet conceived. What you deem a postponement of progress may actually represent an auspicious opportunity to prepare for what is yet to come. Or maybe feel things are moving too quickly forward.

We all enjoy the major milestones in our lives at the appropriate time–some realize their dreams as youngsters while others flourish only in old age. If you take pride in your many accomplishments and make the most of every circumstance in which you find yourself, your time will come.

While it is important that we think before speaking, it’s important not to try to please everyone, which may cause us to hide or otherwise distort those ideas that will likely prove valuable. We may feel uncomfortable speaking our minds in this way because we believe that our quick-to-appear initial thoughts are yet unformed and can only be improved by careful consideration. In discounting them, however, we do ourselves a disservice.

Give yourself the freedom – permission to speak your mind (within assertive guidelines) without being a people pleaser!  Trusting initial thoughts and speaking your truth without too much refinement or rearranged words is often the best choice.

There may be a fine line between thinking before speaking and being overly self-critical in analyzing thoughts into words.  Give yourself credit for good communicative skills and intelligence!  Always keep “in mind” and “be aware” of the general distinctions among assertive, passive and aggressive communication-behavior styles for your best communication!

Assertive

  • Honest
  • Expressive
  • Use of “I” statements
  • Confrontation is OK
  • Compromise

Passive

  • Avoids conflict
  • Laid back
  • Taken advantage of
  • Indecisive
  • People Pleaser

Aggressive

  • Dominate
  • Manipulate
  • Goes beyond personal boundaries
  • Takes a stand at the expense of others

We feel powerful and courageous when feeling confident.  A confident person can have positive dealings with authority figures and feel more self-assured in conversations with others in everyday life.  This can help to resolve disputes and open the lines of communication in all relationships. When you keep your chin up, shoulders back, maintain eye contact, and directly face the person you are speaking with, others will interpret this body language as self-assurance, take you seriously and treat you with respect.

When we express confidence and courage in our interactions with others, we demonstrate our belief in ourselves  thus eliciting respect from others. Even if we don’t feel very confident, simply pretending to be strong and self-assured can make us feel that way. Repeated practice will encourage your confidence to grow, and it will eventually become a natural part of your personality.  Confidence  helps you feel more in control of any interaction and can positively change the dynamics of relationships.

These tips are  tried and true! :

1.  Listen to and follow your intuition.

During these trying and difficult times it’s been shown that it’s often necessary to reprioritize to get best outcomes.   Your intuition is most often correct when it comes to your life, work and relationships.  So even if it’s an inkling feeling – a tiny revelation- take a moment to recognize that and then move forward.

2.  Stay within your integrity- no matter what.

No reason or person is important enough to ever stray.  If you have  tried this over the years, whether intentionally or not, then you know it always backfires.

 3.  Love and laugh!

Both are proven stress reducers.  Happiness is contagious – many need more of that now while surrounded by global negativity, difficult times, chaos and immersed in “the new normal”.

 4.  Forgive yourself  for mistakes; let go and move on. 

Self-forgiveness is essential in order to forgive anyone else.  Forgiveness is essential to let go of anger.  Letting go of anger is essential to be happier.  Especially in “the new normal” this is a no-brainer :).

5.  Take time each day  to relax, to dream.

We need our “down” time more than ever now, living in these difficult times.  Honor your method of relaxation and allow dreams to surface.  Be open to learning additional relaxation techniques and give them a try.. whatever works for you whenever you do it is OK as long as it has no negative effects on health or  overlaps with personal or work responsibilities.  If things are unmanageable – get help.

 6.  Be a great listener.

Listening is the most important part of communication.  If you do not understand what is being said, ask. Listen well and your response will  be more on target.

7.  Stay healthy by practicing extreme self-care. (diet, sleep, exercise, relaxation techniques).

Stress takes its toll on health and may exacerbate conditions already in existence.  Therefore we need to be more diligent in this realm in order to   “Thrive Amidst Chaos” (the title of a workshop I co-presented with two colleagues recently).

8.  Stop procrastinating and take action- move forward or drop the project.

We all procrastinate; acknowledgement of being in this mode is the firststep in moving forward.  All procrastination is fear based and manifests itself through negative statements such as:

“not the right time now”
“why even bother…can happen (worst case scenario).”
Sometimes the act of “non-doing” is an indication that the idea needs to be tossed.

 What holds us back from accomplishing our goals is fear.

  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of being judged
  • Fear of success
  • Fear of being controlled

These fears are often caused by deeply routed anxieties.  No matter- you can turn it all around with EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques: Meridian Tapping) combined with positive language-visualization reframing and Peak Performance Success Coaching   and the intention to do just that!

The following are a few common phrases/excuses people use when they are procrastinating: The task is:
“too boring”
“too time consuming”
“I just don’t feel like it”
“I just don’t want to”.

The Good news is that   EFT ( The Emotional Freedom Technique) is wonderfully successful in  reversing procrastination, as usually deeper emotional issues are involved.  It is based on the simple statement that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system . It involves tapping on meridian points while making  statements about the issue.

Knowing that you are afraid will not magically remove fear or change behavior.  You can use The EFT Technique to eradicate the roadblocks of guilt and fear that keep you from moving forward. When you use EFT and stimulate the acupressure points (see chart) the level of serotonin in the brain rises and floods the amygdalia, the section of the brain involved with controlling emotion and fear, and the fear loop is disconnected.  Once the brain stops experiencing fear with the proper EFT tapping, set-up phrase (see below examples) and intuitive NLP language guidance from an experienced EFT Practitioner, which I am, you will find that your thoughts and behaviors transform effortlessly.

9.  Begin each day with a short meditation positive visualizations of successful outcomes of your goals.

Oh! I am so much a believer in this!  Research has shown fantastic results.  It’s all up to you – and your connection to a higher power/the universe.

10.  Believe in yourself and your goals; create affirmations and post them onto mirrors, in an accessible notebook and in the car.

I’ve witnessed amazing escalation in self esteem, happiness, productivity and success with the implementation of these tips for my clients.

Hi!!

The Holidays have begun for Americans: Ads for Black Friday.  Sales at midnight.

Turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing and pie, yum!!  We are grateful and most of us are happy to be at this table.  I’d like to say a bit more about grateful..

There is a huge correlation between gratefulness-forgiveness-happiness.  Research has documented it and everyday I affirm this for myself and with clients.  I recommend  every evening going over a few things-people-circumstances that you are grateful for; perhaps journaling them.  Here are some of mine:

I am grateful for my supportive and loving family.

I am grateful for my home and surroundings.

I am grateful that I can thrive amidst world chaos.

I am grateful for my health and positive attitude.

I am grateful for my friends.

I am grateful for knowing all of you- my friend and colleagues.

Whether you are hosting a family dinner or traveling to one, you may find yourself experiencing some feelings of anxiety or apprehension in preparation for the holiday gathering. -Even tho I know this happens to me every year and it’s ridiculous to become so stressed, I fully and deeply love and respect myself.

-Even tho I know the holidays are about gratefulness & peace (inner and outer!)) and I feel full of dread, I know I can get thru this.

round of tapping: get thru it!

check in with your stress level about the holidays and I bet it’s much lower.

2)  Caregiver EFT Holiday Stress (add on to above or stand alone)

Set up phrase:

-Even tho I feel like I’m being pulled in 10 directions and may be losing my mind I fully and deeply love and respect myself.

– Even tho I’ll feel guilty if I don’t visit, am not with ___on TG, I fully and deeply love and respect myself.

– Even though I really want to spend TG with__ and I’m having dinner for (or going to)____, I fully and deeply love and respect myself.

round of tapping: 10 directions

round of tapping: losing my mind

round of tapping: guilt

2 rounds of tapping: I’ll be OK

round of tapping: ____ (subject of caregiving) will be fine

round of tapping:  once a year

Now, check in with your stress level about the holidays and I bet it’s much lower. Repeat this everyday.  You may substitute words as needed. Visualize positive celebrations, take time for yourself and keep up the gratefulness lists.
