2. Challenge your belief! Write down, and take time to acknowledge, all the life experiences that you have had that actually PROVE your old belief is not true. This may be in the form of compliments that you have received, promotions at work, loving relationships, etc.
3. Identify your desired outcome.  Write down all your desired outcomes relating to replacing the old belief. Choose one outcome that most powerfully represents who you would be if you had that outcome.

4. Ask yourself: “What am I willing to do to make these changes?” You can always get ideas and reinforcement from professional guidance and support in one-on-one sessions or group programs. You really don’t have to go it alone in your life, and the belief that “you should” is in itself a disempowering belief!

We can  find joy in the chores and tasks we don’t especially like – sometimes all we need is a change of attitude, a different approach, a little music, or some help from friends or family, and the tasks or responsibilities that we perceive as tedious ie: washing dishes, fixing the car, cleaning a closet, can become a source of satisfaction.

Most of us tend to put off what it is that we don’t want to do. Yet, one of the best approaches to an unpleasant task or dull chore is to dive right in and be fully mindful of what it is that you are doing.

Playing your favorite music, dancing while you work, or creating a mental list of everything you are grateful for are just a few ways to turn an unexciting activity into a fun event. Look for joy in doing your mundane activities, and they’ll become a source of enjoyment rather than a tolerable duty.

Do you know what your intuitive “cues” or “clues” from your power center – usually the gut – are?  A pang in your gut when you may be doing the wrong thing, or a vibrant zing when your body approves, can guide you reliably at times when logic fails. Sometimes, when logic prevails, we ignore our gut and live to regret it, understanding later that a rational approach is only one way of determining what is going on in a situation and how we can react.

Our gut resides in the neighborhood of our solar plexus just above your belly button. When it is functioning well, we can trust its guidance and adjust our actions accordingly. Many of us have a tendency to hold in this area of our bodies. We may take shallow breaths that never reach this vital center that is the source of our empowerment. It is in this place that we find the courage to act and be assertive. When our power center is out of balance, we are timid and out of sync, wishing we had said something we were only able to phrase later when we were alone; wishing we had acted on an opportunity we didn’t see until it was past.

In order to trust and utilize your power center more consistently, you may want to focus your attention on it regularly and make time to care for it. You can begin right now by taking a deep breath into your belly. On the exhale, pull your navel in toward your spine so as to empty out completely before taking another deep breath into your belly. When you empty completely, you release stagnant energy and create more space to be filled with fresh, nourishing breath. The more you practice this simple exercise, the more clear and communicative your feelings will be and the more comfortable you will feel acting on them.

Another way to nourish your power center is with EFT tapping.  When working with EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) we close a round with three strong power breaths. The combination is double empowering and a perceived fear factor can go from 9 to 1 in a short amount of time – and then you’re ready to rock!!

We create abundance by allowing it in, by letting go of resistance that manifests in the form of fear, anger and shutting down.    Each area of life must be consciously “opened” : relationships, career, financial, spiritual, health, recreational.  We can begin to do this by meditating with the mantras:

  • “let abundance into the area of…
  • allow $$ to flow freely into my life..
  • allow love into my life and allow me to send it out”.

This process is similar to  prayer, with more personal involvement. We must be very aware and alert to change to notice when the circumstances / conditions are right for abundance:  then it’s up to you to take action!! We must move towards success, it doesn’t “come” to us.

An example of an effective set-up phrase with the EFT “choice method”:

“Even though I am struggling with financial issues, I choose to allow abundance to come into my life.”

After  tapping  the points for 3 sets you will notice your perception of allowing abundance skyrocket!  Since I’ve been meditating and “tapping” with the art of allowing abundance,  I’ve seen amazing results as have my clients and groups.

Following these two modalities it is positive reinforcement to visualize your abundance as you want it happening in each area. Everyday go through these sequences. Of course, as previously mentioned, you must take action. If you find yourself procrastinating, then it is a sign that there is a fear around the action- since all procrastination is based on one or more of these fears:  of judgment, of failure, of success , of being controlled.  The same techniques may be successfully applied to getting into gear and transforming procrastination into positive, powerful action if you really want to do something.

Tapping into opportunity is about working creatively with potential, not being limited by challenges. It’s about the glass half full and not deluding ourselves that the glass is filled with champagne. The key to realizing your own potential is tuning in to how you interpret the events playing out in your life.

It’s about acknowledging and being able to release fear and anxiety. You can tap into your opportunity by following your passion. Are we looking for the opportunities and making predictions that we can realize with our own actions? The choice is ours. It’s about thinking accurately, making calculated risks and when things go wrong, seeing the setbacks as temporary.

It’s about being innovative, flexible and resilient; being able to lift up and move forward from a fall. Resilience is the mindset that encourages sound and practical ingenuity and shines a light for yourself and others.

Twelve Tips to being Resilient & Tapping into Opportunity

• Resilience/optimism is not about sugar coating the truth. Lying gets you into trouble- even with yourself.

• Think of possibilities from different perspectives.

• Stop talking in absolutes. Eliminate the words nothing and never from self talk.

• Set specific goals that are attainable.

• When you are feeling down due to personal circumstances, take stock of your strengths.

• Lower the stakes, not the standards: Don’t have your whole life riding on the outcome of one event.

• Savor small triumphs, steps leading to the bigger picture.

• Set aside self blame and learn from your mistakes.

• Surround yourself with positive people.

• Do not read, watch or listen to the news if you become “too upset”.

• Take a few minutes each day to reflect on your feelings.

• Cultivate generosity and gratitude.

We are the only ones who can control our attitude. By focusing on what is strong and enduring and seeing our potential, we can take calculated risks and overcome challenges.

It takes an open, creative mind free from anxiety to pick up on opportunities. They are out there ready to be swept up by your radar. When you are ready for action and a circumstance occurs so that you experience confusion or fear what do you do? Freeze..nothing probably, that’s human nature. Even though it may be the polarity of what you want to do when you are ready for action, this is prime time to take stock and do inner work in order to move past blocks and make fabulous, free feeling progress.

Writer’s block, for instance, is often a matter of too much distraction. Perhaps it’s about needing fresh ideas, or being “sure of yourself”, confident that what you write will resonate with your readers. Procrastination is always fear based. Before you can move forward, it’s important to know which kind(s) of fear you’re facing- that’s the intitial inner work- is it fear of failure, being judged, fear of success (yes, success can take you to new scary places..) or of being controlled.

Once you’ve gotten the “fear factor” figured out, sometimes with assistance of a coach, then it’s time to have a few guided EFT sessions. My facilitation of The EFT Technique has been 100% effective in my three years as an EFT-ADV practitioner combining the EFT Technique with Peak Performance Success Coaching. This includes fear of public speaking, which is the number one fear in our society. Immediately following a session using Gary Craig’s short EFT Technique form, I facilitate a deep guided relaxation-visualization session to reinforce the tapping, intuitive coach-like language and positive emotional transitions that have occurred.
