Sometimes when we are absorbed by mental pursuits-especially reading a good book or studying a subject we are passionate about-it’s important not to lose track of time. You may even want to time yourself so that you can stop and tend to the other responsibilities you need to fulfill.  If you establish time constraints, you may find yourself better able to focus and absorb what you take in because your mind won\’t have the luxury of time to wander aimlessly. Time for absorbing information is just as important as time spent engaging in other activities.

Giving ourselves a set amount of time to focus on mental pursuits allows us to be as productive as possible. It gives us permission to be free from distractions because we know that we will be able to tend to other responsibilities when that scheduled time has ended. This affords us the freedom to concentrate. With our focused attention, we can then absorb and process new information with ease. Our abilities to comprehend and retain information inevitably become enhanced.

Often people to feel that life is progressing too slowly or too quickly. We draft carefully composed plans only to find that they fall into place when we least expect.When delays in our progress create disappointment or the pace of life seems overwhelming, peace can be found in the simple belief that we are exactly where we need to be at this moment.

Every person fulfills their purpose when the time is right. If you have fast-tracked to success, you may become deeply frustrated if you discover you can no longer satisfy your desires as quickly as you might like. Yet the delays that disappoint you may be laying the foundation for future accomplishments that you have not yet conceived. What you deem a postponement of progress may actually represent an auspicious opportunity to prepare for what is yet to come. Or maybe feel things are moving too quickly forward.

In today’s busy world it often feels like there is not enough time to accomplish everything we want to. It has to do with where you are starting and where you want to be…It depends on what your responsibilities (or perceived ones) are and the time and energy you need to allow for that and for simple and more complex pleasures.  It’s not about having equal pieces of the “wheel of life” in the chart above; it’s about giving each piece the time and energy it needs. Most of us have evaluated our success and not meeting goals for the past year and have goals and action plans in mind for this year.  It’s important to take action now.  Are you ready?
