Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) lowers the major stress hormone cortisol significantly more than other interventions tested in recent scientific studies. The human body is designed to release cortisol only at times of physical danger, to help the body mobilize to fight or flee from that threat. The level of cortisol and other adrenal hormones such as adrenaline are supposed to subside when the danger passes. The human body is not meant to live in a constant deluge of cortisol and adrenaline. Unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening to many people in today’s stressful world. Most are not responding to physical danger but to traffic, work worries, financial problems, and the myriad other stresses of modern life. Continually elevated cortisol levels are known to contribute to a range of physical and psychological problems, including fatigue, weakened immunity, anxiety, depression, digestive and metabolic problems, obesity, and even diseases such as diabetes, Cushing’s syndrome, and cardiovascular disease.

EFT is a noninvasive technique that pairs the recall of emotional upsets (a form of exposure therapy, a common method in psychology) with physical stimulation of specific points on the body to discharge stress (as identified by thousands of years of use in acupuncture). The physiological mechanisms of action of EFT have been documented in a number of studies and review articles. These demonstrate that EFT affects several of the body’s regulatory systems, including the brain and endocrine systems.

Unlike various drugs and supplements touted to lower cortisol, EFT has no side effects. And unlike the “cortisol blockers” that have flooded the market as the negative effects of elevated cortisol have become more widely known, EFT does not strip the body of cortisol’s precursor molecules, which are used for cell repair when we are in a relaxed state.  I have 100% success rate working with clients for weight and impulse eating control using EFT in addition them having accountability for diet and lifestyle.  Find out more http://www.balanceandpower.com/eft.php

Wheel of Life (2)Personal balance is different for everyone. It has to do with where you are starting and where you want to be…It depends on what your responsibilities (or perceived ones) are and the time and energy you need to allow for that and for simple and more complex pleasures.  It’s not about having equal pieces of the “wheel of life” in the chart above; it’s about giving each piece the time and energy it needs. Most of us have evaluated our success and not meeting goals for the past year and have goals and action plans in mind for this year.  It’s important to take action now.  Are you ready? Empowerment is about making conscious choices which will be most likely to bring you success and fulfillment. It’s about thinking ahead and preventing the problems in life that are preventable and dealing rationally and effectively with the ones you can’t prevent. There is little in life that you can control but you can make informed choices about everything.

Being fully grounded in reality  is necessary for feeling confident and empowered, as opposed to living in hopeful fantasy.  When the  truths  are difficult to face, use your inner knowledge/intuition    to deal with life’s challenges in the most realistic  manner possible.

Empowerment is the ability to pursue your goals without being inhibited by any internal or external forces. It’s being confident instead of  self-doubting; motivated    and inspired .  It’s not allowing any person or negative inner voice to get in the way of your “going for it.”

Empowerment is about being assertive.  Aggression can come close, and that’s certainly not it.  Empowerment is the “power to” do things, not the  “power over” things.  Be persistent and  follow through with problems.

Make a list of things you worry about. Divide your list intocategories listed at the top of this outline. How do you want to redirect your focus?
What would happen if we channeled this energy and effort contructively rather than adding “fuel to the fire”? Worrying is like steeping on the gas pedal while the car is in neutral: we create a lot of noise, use op energy and don’t go anywhere!
