Just back from Panama! The beach scenes are from lovely Playa Blanca; the others from Panama City old section:

Managing Emails on Vacation

From newsday.com by JAMIE HERZLICH

It’s hard enough managing the deluge of emails that comes in on a daily basis, but it’s an even heftier task dealing with it while on vacation. For most entrepreneurs, it’s almost impossible to totally disconnect from email for any long period of time.

With 59 percent of entrepreneurs planning to take at least one full week off this summer, according to an American Express OPEN survey, they’ll need to prioritize and set boundaries so they don’t become slaves to their inboxes.

Bullying rates remain higher for children with disabilities, even as they mature.

Studies point out the necessity for special education programs to teach appropriate response skills to children with disabilities.  I facilitate workshops and trainings for children, families, educators and parents with this topic as well as bullying prevention and anger management

Bullying and cyber-bullying can leave anyone feeling hurt, angry, depressed or overwhelmed. Bullying is an aggressive behavior that can be physical, verbal, or relational. Learn about why some kids bully and why others are bullied, and how to develop the resilience and self-confidence to succeed in life.

The most damaging aspect of bullying is its repetition. Bullies are often relentless, bullying over and over again for long periods of time. Cyber-bullying can be even more painful because it can be witnessed by many more people and continue around the clock.

    • Bullying/Cyber-Bullying Prevention Support Groups: Anti-bullying tactics and Techniques to stay positive, reduce stress and anger, stay focused and build self-esteem!
    • Sensitivity Training/Character Education for Students: Same curriculum as for the Adult Program (*see above with attached website links.)

Life throws many curved balls – meant to be intercepted . I’ve been hearing the term often lately, from clients and background summer sounds of TV baseball announcers…

Successful interception of life’s curve balls takes clear vision, focus, intention and correct action. When curved balls are directed at you (or it simply feels that way) you may need extra help-guidance and new strategies to go in a different direction, become unstuck, release tension, let go of past mistakes and foster forgiveness (to yourself as well as others), sometimes within a short timeline. EFT Emotional Freedom Technique is a forerunner in this field and when combined with Stress Management – a homerun!

I am facilitating two workshops /beginner trainings for EFT (Healthcare Professionals & Educators welcome!) in Nassau and Suffolk Counties: Westbury 10/18 my office and My New Spalon At Beach Club Estate, Lake Ronkonkoma. www.mynewspalon.com 10/19.

When you’re feeling down, you can often turn things around with a few tips and tricks for thinking about things differently.   Here are 8 suggestions to “reframe” or place your “stuff” in different perspective and feel happier:

  1. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and visualize things working out.
  2. Give yourself a quick pep talk.
  3. Get in front of a mirror and practice smiling. While working your grin, take a minute to acknowledge your looks and appreciate your favorite part of your face.
  4. Write down five things that you are proud about and stick the list in your wallet to pull out to remind yourself that you’re awesome.
  5. Call a friend and tell her you’re feeling down. Sometimes just admitting you’re not feeling great makes things better instantly.
  6. Make a coffee date with a good friend and ask her what she likes about you.
  7. Take a deep breath, acknowledge things aren’t going your way, and move on with your day.
  8. Stop with negative self talk. Switch the thoughts of negativity to positive mantras, such as “I am a strong woman (man)!”

Resolving conflicts,  violence & bullying prevention workplace programs in the workplace and schools need to be in the  forefront again with the horrific event in our nation’s capital.  The news coverage has informed us the murderer had PTSD and had a previously reported gun problem.    I shy away from expressing political  opinion in my work and know now that I must take a stand for stronger gun control and background checks with proper privacy controls.  The other component is to up the ante on public education and trainings in the field of conflict resolution, anger/stress management , violence prevention and bullying prevention in the schools and workplace.  I work with small groups, individuals and couples in my Long Island office and via Video skype as well as go onsite to facilitate.  Every group presentation is customized.  You may contact me for a 15 minute complimentary strategy phone session 516 623 4353 or connect with me via email
