When we label our emotions we find that their intricacy unravels to reveal only one feeling or thought. It often can seem like we are thinking hundreds of conflicting notions at a time. In fact, our racing minds are just reflecting the speed with which our brain processes our emotions. Slowing down and naming our thoughts allows us to see our emotions as they occur one by one. Being in the moment in this way can also alleviate some of the irritation we feel when our thoughts gallop through our heads. As you watch your feelings today, you will notice that the many layers of your thoughts will become less complicated.

When you meditate, your thoughts pass through in your mind and your ability to only focus on your breath (not the thoughts) will help to find one significant single thought.EFT (Emotional freedom Techniques), Tapping also helps in the narrowing down to onesingle emotion and stressor at a time.

When you’re feeling down, you can often turn things around with a few tips and tricks for thinking about things differently.   Here are 8 suggestions to “reframe” or place your “stuff” in different perspective and feel happier:

  1. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and visualize things working out.
  2. Give yourself a quick pep talk.
  3. Get in front of a mirror and practice smiling. While working your grin, take a minute to acknowledge your looks and appreciate your favorite part of your face.
  4. Write down five things that you are proud about and stick the list in your wallet to pull out to remind yourself that you’re awesome.
  5. Call a friend and tell her you’re feeling down. Sometimes just admitting you’re not feeling great makes things better instantly.
  6. Make a coffee date with a good friend and ask her what she likes about you.
  7. Take a deep breath, acknowledge things aren’t going your way, and move on with your day.
  8. Stop with negative self talk. Switch the thoughts of negativity to positive mantras, such as “I am a strong woman (man)!”

When we hold hope or sadness, pathways appear in the brain to support that sadness or hope; that’s been documented. The same thing happens at a cellular level. When we consistently hold an emotion, a large amount of related hormones are released to every cell. In other words, your brain and every cell of your body support you in the feelings that you consistently hold and leave no space for the other emotions. So, hold hope!

If you are not happy with your holdings, then you can change that! It takes a while to rebuild, and here are three tips to changing the emotion which changes the chemistry and becomes a cycle:

1. Pay attention to your thoughts and attitude. If you find negativity or sadness, pause and breathe.

2. Learn and practice EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, tapping) to create self-acceptance and compassionate change.

Viewing a dance performance can transport you because it is

  • multisensual; often music is involved and sometimes props-
  • erotic
  • therapeutic in that it is out of your head- into feelings and creative spaces-

I was in audience Tilles Center (CW Post) Long Island  for Jose Limon Dance Company performance this past weekend- and I was transported!

Once in a while I found myself blogging (this) in my head and forced stop- to be able to be fully present and “out of my head” with the dance viewing experience.

I’ve always found dance to be therapeutic in the doing and the viewing…

Free Danc...

I owned a dance and exercise studio and created an audio program Moving Meditation® Fitness: A Fitness and Relaxation Program  knowing that anyone can become more focused, relaxed and happier with the inclusion of dance-movement combined with visualization and guided breath work in their fitness and stress release routines.

All you need to do is simply allow  dance and movement  to transport you!
