No matter when or where- I am a big fan of time away with faith that it is the right time-place-people that you have arranged it with.  It is extra wonderful when you make a pact of no phones- and no or occassional computer.  Really!  Some adjustments  and maybe some extra down time- but hey isn&#8217;t that what you sign up for when its a vacation?  I&#8217;m just back from Europe, jetlagged and refreshed at the same time.  Ready to connect and reconnect.  Be here in the right time-place: now. I even handled my emergency &#8220;root canal&#8221; OK and made clear choices.Throughout your day, it&#8217;s important to take &#8220;mini-vacations&#8221;.  Take breaks throughout the work day to become centered and release stress/frustration.  Did you know that when you have no stress you are 100% more productive.  Of course, some stress is OK- and their is &#8220;good stress&#8221; too- like getting married, going on a vacation..Your body doesn&#8217;t know the difference, and the adrenalin and cortisol kick in. A long flight is a great place to practice relaxation techniques.  Afraid of flying? I have facilitated amazing turn-arounds with EFT and de-sensitiving techniques that include visualization.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While you must follow common sense and evacuate when it&#8217;s necessary, or<br />
otherwise make sure you have enough emergency supplies on hand, there is no<br />
need to spend hours or even minutes in terror while riding out the storm.</p>
<p>Neurobiologist Jill Bolte Taylor explains that the brain and body are<br />
designed to react to trauma by setting off an emotional response and that<br />
the neurophysiology of the body is set up to allow us to feel that emotion<br />
AND RELEASE IT within 90 seconds.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s when we hold on to the emotion, and replay the pattern, that the<br />
emotional response gets caught in our body and we hold on to the anxiety,<br />
the stress, and even the terror.</p>
<p>So..the  best time to tap away the emotion is when you are feeling it -before it gets a chance to get stuck in your body.</p>
<p>If you think about it, releasing the anxiety and stress leaves you more clear-headed to logically deal with traumatic events such as hurricanes.</p>
<p>TIP #1: TAP IN THE MOMENT<br />
If you find yourself experiencing this hurricane, or any other scary event,<br />
tap while it is happening. As soon as you feel any anxiety, stress or<br />
terror, start tapping on the EFT tapping points.</p>
<p>If you are not familiar with EFT you can view charts of the tapping points <a title="here" href="http://www.balanceandpower.com/eft.php">here</a> as well as my intro EFT video.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry about a setup statement or what to say while tapping the side of<br />
the hand/karate chop point.  That&#8217;s designed to get you focused on the<br />
problem, and if you are in the middle of the storm, you are already focused<br />
on the problem.</p>
<p>So simply start tapping the points on the face, collarbone, and under the<br />
arm. You can say whatever is going through your mind, or relate what is<br />
happening around you, or say something that makes you feel better such as,<br />
&#8220;I&#8217;m safe, I&#8217;m OK right now, I will survive.&#8221;</p>
<p>TIP #2: THE FOREHEAD HOLD<br />
This is great to teach children, or to do with children, and of course for<br />
yourself.</p>
<p>Placing the palm of your hand across your forehead helps bring energy and<br />
blood into the forebrain of your body and get you out of the fight-or-flight<br />
response that drains the blood from your forehead to your chest (fight) or your legs (flee).</p>
<p>Lightly holding the palm of your hand across your forehead &#8211; sometimes for<br />
10 or 15 minutes or more &#8211; will help you think clearly just when you need it<br />
the most. This will also retrain your body not to go into that<br />
fight-or-flight blood-rushing-from-your brain response.</p>
<p>You might find yourself doing this instinctively, especially with your<br />
children. However, doing this for a few seconds doesn&#8217;t help that much &#8211; to<br />
get maximum benefit, you want to hold your hand across the forehead until<br />
you feel the pulsing  above the eyebrows on both sides of the forehead.</p>
<p>And!  you can supercharge your EFT tapping by placing the palm of one hand<br />
across your forehead and tapping the points with your other hand.</p>
<p>TIP #3: TAP THE GAMUT POINT</p>
<p>Mostly forgotten recently in tapping, and hugely underutilized, the Gamut<br />
Point on the back of the hand directly influences the meridian (energy<br />
channel) that is involved in the fight-or-flight reaction.</p>
<p>Anytime you feel a sudden rush of emotion such as fear or anxiety (or even<br />
anger or frustration) tapping or massaging the Gamut Point may help lower<br />
the intensity of your reaction.</p>
<p>To find the Gamut Point, make a fist with one hand, and you will see a<br />
depression between the knuckles of the fourth and fifth fingers on the back<br />
of the hand (not between the knuckles but a little beneath the knuckles on<br />
the hand). This depression is where to tap &#8211; or rub &#8211; to help release the<br />
fear so you can feel safe.</p>
<p>BTW- Massaging the Gamut Point really helps in social situations if you  feel as if  you may  lose it and don&#8217;t<br />
want to tap the face points.</p>
<p>Again, if you are feeling the fear in the moment, don&#8217;t worry so much about<br />
what to say. You don&#8217;t really have to say anything. Just focus on the<br />
feeling, massage or tap the Gamut Point, and notice as you feel calmer and<br />
more able to handle the situation.</p>
<p>You may add the Gamut Point to your EFT tapping sequence.</p>
<p>Experiment with these three processes &#8211; tapping the EFT points in the moment<br />
while focused on your emotional reaction, holding your forehead in the palm<br />
of your hand (remember this is great for kids) and taking advantage of the<br />
Gamut Point on the back of your hand.</p>

<p>By bringing our attention to the present moment, we can release ourselves from mind-based fears. Our fears exist in our heads-we tend to be afraid of what could, but may not, happen. Fears are based on possibility, not actuality. And if what we are afraid of ever does come to pass, it is usually never as frightening or unbearable as we imagined. Staying focused in the present moment allows us to let go of our fears. We decrease the chances of our fears happening because we are no longer feeding them by paying attention to them. Release yourself from your fears by focusing on what is happening to you right now, and you will free yourself today from apprehension and enjoy a more secure reality.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I found myself a little bit crazy, overworked,<br />
and just not able to get to  that deep place<br />
of peace where I love to be for part of my day..</p>
<p>So I  did some tapping (EFT) on it, and had some<br />
significant shifts in stress  relief and attitude.</p>
<p>I’m going to share with you several of<br />
those  tapping scripts below.</p>
<p>Work on the one that resonates most for  you,<br />
tap on them all if you want to, and pay particular<br />
attention to what  comes up for YOU.</p>
<p>So if you’re tapping with one of these scripts<br />
and a  particular project comes to mind, or<br />
stress about a situation, tap on that  specifically.</p>
<p>The more SPECIFIC you can get with your<br />
personal stuff,  the better results you’ll have.</p>

<p>1.   General Overwork and Overstress</p>
<p>Karate Chop:  Even though I’m totally  overworked,<br />
really stressed out and have WAY too much to<br />
do&#8230;. I deeply  and completely accept myself</p>
<p>(Repeat the above phrase three times  while<br />
Tapping on the karate chop point)</p>
<p>Eyebrow: Way too much to  do&#8230;<br />
Side of the Eye:  My “to-do” list is a mile long&#8230;<br />
Under Eye: When  will I ever get it done?<br />
Under Nose: I’ll never get it done&#8230;<br />
Under  Mouth: I’m overworked and stressed out&#8230;.<br />
Collarbone: When can I  relax?<br />
Under the Arm: I can’t seem to relax<br />
Top of the Head: Too much to  do&#8230;</p>
<p>(Repeat the above phrases a couple of times,<br />
you can throw in  your own phrases as well, <em>and<br />
<strong>when you feel  significant relief, move on to<br />
the positive  phrases)</p>
<p></strong></em>Eyebrow: I chose to relax now&#8230;<br />
Side of  the Eye: I chose to REALLY relax now&#8230;<br />
Under the Eye: I’ll never get it ALL  done&#8230;<br />
Under Nose: And that’s ok&#8230;<br />
Under Mouth: I chose to slow down and  take a breath&#8230;<br />
Collarbone: I am not my “to-do” list&#8230;<br />
Under the Arm: I  am good enough no matter<br />
what I get done&#8230;<br />
Top of the Head: I chose to  relax and let it go now&#8230;</p>
<p>2.  Cultural Drive To Do More and Be  More</p>
<p>Karate Chop:  Even though society says I need<br />
to work harder, to  do more, be more and never stop,<br />
I deeply and completely accept  myself</p>
<p>(Repeat the above phrase three times while tapping<br />
on the  karate chop point)</p>
<p>Eyebrow: I need to keep working&#8230;<br />
Side of the Eye:  I have to do more&#8230;<br />
Under Eye: I need to be more&#8230;<br />
Under Nose: I can  never stop&#8230;<br />
Under Mouth: I have to keep up&#8230;<br />
Collarbone: Need to keep  going&#8230;<br />
Under the Arm: Can never stop&#8230;<br />
Top of the Head: Gotta keep  going&#8230;</p>
<p>(Repeat the above phrases a couple of times,<br />
you can throw in  your own phrases as well, and<br />
when you feel significant relief, move on  to<br />
the positive phrases)</p>
<p>Eyebrow: I chose to slow down&#8230;.<br />
Side of  the Eye: I chose to breathe&#8230;.<br />
Under Eye: I am perfect as I am&#8230;.<br />
Under  Nose: I can chose my own way&#8230;<br />
Under Mouth: I don’t have to be like anyone  else&#8230;.<br />
Collarbone: Society can keep going crazy, I chose<br />
to  relax&#8230;<br />
Under the Arm: I choose whether to work more or not&#8230;<br />
Top of the  Head: It’s all within my control&#8230;.</p>
<p>Keep tapping until you get  relief!</p>
<p>These are just general phrases to get you started and<br />
bring  you some relief.</p>
<p>Make sure to pay attention to what came up for  YOU.</p>
<p>Jot down whatever specific event, issue or memory these<br />
phrases  triggered, and then work on tapping those<br />
down.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>When you are ready for action </strong>and a circumstance occurs so that you experience confusion or fear what do you do? Freeze..nothing probably, that&#8217;s human nature.  Even though it may be the polarity of what you want to do when you are ready for action, this is prime time to take stock and do inner work in order to move past blocks and make fabulous, free feeling progress. </p>
<p><strong>Writer&#8217;s block, for instance, </strong>is often a matter of too much distraction.  Perhaps it&#8217;s about needing fresh ideas, or being &#8220;sure of yourself&#8221;, confident that what you write will resonate with your readers.  Procrastination is always fear based.  Before you can move forward, it&#8217;s important to know which kind(s) of fear you&#8217;re facing- that&#8217;s the intitial inner work- is it fear of failure, being judged, fear of success (yes, success can take you to new scary places..) or of being controlled.</p>
<p><strong>Once you&#8217;ve gotten the &#8220;fear factor&#8221; figured out, </strong>sometimes with assistance of a coach, then it&#8217;s time to have a few guided EFT sessions.  My facilitation of The EFT Technique has been 100% effective in my three years as an EFT-ADV practitioner combining the EFT Technique with Peak Performance Success Coaching.  This includes fear of public speaking, which is the number one fear in our society.  Immediately following a session using Gary Craig&#8217;s short EFT Technique form, I facilitate  a deep guided relaxation-visualization session to reinforce the tapping, intuitive coach-like language and positive emotional transitions that have occurred.</p>

We may think that we need to stay focused and disciplined until we get the job done, especially if we are working hard on achieving the goals we’ve set for ourselves. While this level of dedication is admirable, it can also sabotage our enjoyment of our work and also the efficiency and accuracy. Choosing to create a state of balance and moderation in our activities will help us enjoy our daily experiences more. This helps us be more focused and productive when we are working. <em>Remember that a rested mind is an efficient mind.</em> Take time to honor your need for fun today, and you will help yourself achieve your goals. A good night&#8217;s sleep is also extremely important to attain optimal productivity.</h3>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m referring to the ash of recent volcanic eruption that has caused disruption in international travel.  My recent blog,<a href="http://www.balanceandpowerblog/eileen-lichtnetsein" target="_blank"> &#8220;Strategies for Emotional Flexibility&#8221;</a> and all the<a href="http://www.balanceandpower.com/stressmanagement.php" target="_blank"> Stress Management tips </a>I know &amp; teach havent yet settled my unease re the flights around this trip. We are planning to leave  in 2 days: Thursday afternoon, Kennedy-Madrid, with a flight Malaga-London 5/26 and then back to NY June 1. Thanks in advance for the power of collective positive energy. I know that stress is about feeling out of control and that 92% of worry is about circumstances we cannot change.  With that said, I could be packing instead of writing this blog now (even tho it&#8217;s a great release to blog abt something like this..) and I continue to <a href="http://www.balanceandpower.com/eft.php" target="_blank">tap </a>throughout the day with ash settled being my newest tapping phrase!  I&#8217;ve always had some issues with packing- and am so much better at it now and  am evidently procrastinating- another fear issue..am I afraid I wont &#8220;have enough&#8221; or &#8220;just in case&#8221;  if we&#8217;re stranded in Europe- and that scenario can be terrific actually- so I must focus on taking the most important items and nothing else.  We still need to deal with the luggage-weight issues and are bringing our daughter a new computer among other things! The Euro is so low now we can buy anything needed for bargain prices~</p>
<p>Traveling can be chaotic- and I have coached many people to  successfully overcome fear of flying and packing anxiety.  The &#8220;ash fear&#8221; and related issues can be conquered too. Onward!</p>

It takes work to overcome fear.  The first step is acknowledgment that one want to do it!<br />
I have found EFT, meridian tapping, to be extremely helpful in overcoming fear- even phobias!</p>
